Another incredible find — genuine memorabilia from the production of Adventures in Paradise, 1959-1961.
The pair of framed posters are printed montages of pen-and-ink illustrations, both measure 23 by 17 inches, (without the frames). The art depicts the vision of the production team, to aid in the design and building of the AIP permanent sets.
Those permanent sets included a 3/4 size Tiki, which was moored at the dock, various sections of dock, and the surrounding buildings, such as the Bali Miki Bar. The AIP set, with its lagoon, and jungle areas, was the largest set on the 20th Century backlot at the time.
The two pieces, in remarkable, pristine condition must have been stored very carefully all these decades. They were acquired by Deborah Leeper on eBay some years back. Deborah, a great fan of Gardner McKay and the show series, recently donated the pieces to Jo Addie, for ‘safe-keeping’ and inclusion in the AIP Mementos section. We sincerely thank Deborah for her kindness, support and generosity!!! |
